http://www.gog.com/news/lucasfilm_on_gogcom_wave_ii_starts_nowI count myself lucky enough to have been around at the dawn of home (and arcade) video gaming. From set-top pong variations right up until the Xbox/Playstation generation, I’ve seen and played them all. When home PCs started to become “a thing,” I was there also. Some of my fondest gaming memories are playing the early Star Wars titles on my old custom-built Pentium 90. I spent many an hour working through games like Rebel Assault, X-Wing and Dark Forces, not to mention non-Star Wars titles like The Dig and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
Now, many years later, these games are digitally resurfacing and I’m ready to throw my money away. The folks at GOG.com are selling these classic games at very reasonable prices. There are currently six classic LucasArts games for sale but there’s a teaser graphic claiming more are on the way.
The current list of titles includes:
- Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition ($9.99)
- Star Wars: Tie Fighter Special Edition ($9.99)
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ($9.99)
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis ($5.99)
- Sam & Max Hit the Road ($5.99)
- The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition ($9.99)
I absolutely loved that Indiana Jones game and can’t wait to play it again. This is also a good time to get re-acquainted with that great time-sucker, Knights of the Old Republic, which I gave up on a long time ago. I hope we get so see some more classics like Dark Forces and Shadows of the Empire soon.
